Since Damen Shipyards Group was divided into six divisions last year, a lot of work has been done internally to translate the new organisational structure into a powerful, uniform appearance of the group. “Damen wants to show that it is ready to serve the market with its strong divisions,” says Richard Keulen, Director Naval Sales Support of the Damen Naval division. “And, of course, that calls for an attractive and recognizable corporate identity with a new logo for each division.”

The logo for Damen Naval, seen here adjacent, will soon be found in all communications from the division. Every email sent by Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding employees will contain the new Damen Naval identity as standard. Richard requests all colleagues who are not yet using the new logo to change their electronic signatures. “Together, we write a lot of e-mails, and this is how we can automatically promote our new name in the same way.”

The process of updating the corporate identity is progressing as desired, says Richard. “It’s quite a job, but it is something that just has to be done. Slowly but surely, the new corporate identity is being rolled out at all levels and we are working hard to show the outside world that we are now operating under our new name. We are gradually becoming more recognizable.”

While the Damen logo itself has not changed much, the addition of ‘Naval’ is new. We find this not only in e-mail signatures, but also on the Damen Naval website, in the credits of corporate films, on stationery, various documents, in PowerPoint presentations and of course on the business cards of the employees. Richard: “The goal is that we will soon be recognized everywhere as Damen Naval.”

The head office of Damen Shipyards Group in Gorinchem is also working on the rollout of the new corporate identity. This is being carried out centrally at the corporate level, meaning that, among other things, the overall website of the Damen Group will be completely restyled.

The fact that DSNS now operates under Damen Naval does not mean that the name Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding will disappear. “It will simply remain part of our Naval division. So nothing will change for our personnel. But the company’s future projects will be carried out under the banner of the Damen Naval division,” says Richard.

In addition to DSNS, engineering firms Marine Engineering Galati (MEGA, Romania), Nevesbu (the Netherlands) and Multi Engineering (Belgium) also be part of our new Naval division. Multi also has a branch in Vlissingen, not far from Damen Naval’s head office.
