Only three days after moving into its new head office on Louis Pasteurweg in Vlissingen, the Damen Schelde Marine Services (DSMS) and Maritime Logistics (ML) team was already operating at full speed. The move marks an important milestone in the company’s continued development and provides the space, facilities and infrastructure needed to support future growth.

After more than two decades at its previous location, the new DSMS location marks a significant milestone in the history of the growing company. The new premises bring together modern office space, a purpose-built warehouse, and the operations of sister company Maritime Logistics. Together, these facilities create a central hub for spare parts distribution, logistics services and technical support activities. “It feels really good to be here,” says Managing Director Arnold Suykerbuyk. “Our previous location served us well for many years, but we had reached the limits of what it could offer. This new facility provides room for growth and supports our ambition to further develop our parts, logistics, and service activities under one roof.”

From the moment visitors enter the building, two aspects stand out immediately: the abundance of natural daylight and the maritime-inspired interior design. Large windows, extensive use of glass and flowing wave-shaped design elements create a bright and connected working environment throughout the facility.
More than growth: bringing people together
The office area currently provides workspace for 30 employees but has capacity for up to 60 people. The additional space reflects not only DSMS’s growth ambitions, but also its focus on collaboration and teamwork.
One of the most appreciated additions is the new canteen and kitchen area. For the first time in the company’s history, all employees can comfortably have lunch together in one location. “This is a real benefit for the team,” Arnold explains. “In the past, colleagues were spread across different areas. Now everyone comes together in one place, creating more interaction, better communication, and a stronger sense of belonging.”
“Creating a safe, comfortable, and pleasant working environment is important because our people are at the heart of everything we do.” Arnold Suykerbuyk
Supporting customers worldwide
Connected directly to the office is the new 4,000-square-metre warehouse facility. Designed to support the company’s expanding international activities, it combines high-capacity storage, secure freight handling and efficient logistics processes.
A dedicated customs-controlled freight zone enables secure cargo handling and supports international shipments. Multiple loading bays, extensive storage capacity and specialised lifting equipment improve operational efficiency while increasing flexibility for customers. “The new setup allows us to support customers more effectively,” says Arnold. “We can respond faster, manage inventory more efficiently, and further strengthen our global logistics capabilities.”
An important aspect of the move is the integration of Maritime Logistics within the same facility. Previously operating from separate locations, the two companies now work side by side, creating shorter communication lines and more efficient workflows. The new location also provides room for future expansion of logistics activities as the business continues to grow.

Designed with employees in mind
Alongside operational improvements, significant attention has been given to employee wellbeing. The warehouse benefits from natural daylight through side windows, underfloor heating and modern facilities including changing rooms, showers, personal lockers, and laundry facilities. “This represents a major improvement compared to our previous location,” says Arnold. “Creating a safe, comfortable, and pleasant working environment is important because our people are at the heart of everything we do.”
Investing in a sustainable future
Sustainability was a key consideration during the design and construction of the new premises. The building features 190 solar panels, a 100-kWh battery storage system, extensive insulation, and energy-efficient LED lighting throughout. Together, these measures contribute to a highly energy-efficient operation while reducing the facility’s environmental footprint.
The official opening of the new DSMS headquarters is scheduled to take place after the summer break. For Arnold and the whole team, however, the move already represents much more than a new building. “This facility gives us the foundation for the next chapter of our development,” he concludes. “It strengthens collaboration, improves the way we serve our customers and provides the capacity we need to continue growing in the years ahead.”
