On Saturday, 14 June, Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen hosted a family party in Vlissingen-Oost. Starting in the early afternoon, the event – held on the Damen sports field next to the Mission to Seafarers ‘Zeemanshuis’ – welcomed all DSV employees along with their partners and families for an afternoon of relaxed activities, food and drinks.
After being greeted with petit-fours and cupcakes featuring the DSV logo, DSV employees and their families could take a tour of the yard on board a solar-powered train. Along the route, DSV’s HR Manager Sebastian Schipper told the guests about the yard and the diversity of the vessels and current projects.

The tour aimed to give families a better understanding of where and how their loved ones work. It included passing through DSV’s covered Dock 2 to take a look at the REV Ocean – the world’s largest yacht – giving many their first glimpse inside this impressive part of DSV’s facilities.
Following the tour of the yard, activities continued on the sports field. A casual, festival-style barbecue was set up, with small bites and drinks available throughout the afternoon. Children could play on a bouncy castle, ‘stormbaan’ obstacle course, an inflatable bull-riding attraction and of course the sports field was available.

The party was well-attended, and many participants shared positive feedback about the festive atmosphere. And those who couldn’t attend definitely heard what they had missed. It’s also worth noting that this was the first event to make use of the new sports field for more than just sporting purposes – demonstrating its versatility as a space for social gatherings.
Many thanks to those involved in organising the day, and to everyone who took the time to attend.
