A year ago, Damen Schelde Marine Services (DSMS) acquired Ruysch International, a trusted specialist in spare parts for ABC and SWD engines and a provider of high-quality repair services. Following the acquisition, Ruysch was officially rebranded as Damen Schelde Marine Services ‘s-Gravendeel.

As part of this integration, DSMS underwent further reorganisation, including the appointment of a new General Manager for the ‘s-Gravendeel location. Ezra Lamers (pictured above), formerly Commercial Manager for DSMS in Singapore, has stepped into this role. “After nearly a decade leading our commercial efforts in Singapore, building strong customer relationships and expanding our presence in Asia, I see this new position as an exciting challenge,” says Ezra.

Prior to the acquisition, DSMS primarily focused on supplying engine spare parts for the maritime shipping and land-based power plant sectors, particularly for MAN and Wärtsilä main engines and generators. “With DSMS ‘s-Gravendeel, we are broadening our scope,” Ezra explains. “In addition to serving the maritime industry, we now support inland shipping, fishing, coastal, dredging, ferry, and naval fleets, as well as ship repair companies, sectors that commonly use ABC and SWD engines.”

Beyond spare parts supply, DSMS ‘s-Gravendeel is home to a highly skilled workshop specialising in engine repair, overhaul and reconditioning services. “The expertise of our workshop team and the high-quality parts they provide make this a valuable asset for DSMS and our clients,” says Ezra. “Our reconditioning services help customers improve engine efficiency and extend engine lifespan, reducing costs while contributing to sustainability. It’s a win-win for operational performance and environmental responsibility.”

The workshop is also known for its ability to respond swiftly to urgent customer needs. “We can complete jobs in days rather than weeks, sometimes even faster. Being able to handle reconditioning in-house, without relying on third parties, strengthens our overall profitability,” Ezra adds.

Over the years, DSMS has evolved from serving the maritime industry to expanding into land-based power generation.
