Damen Naval puts ‘jubilee’ employees in the spotlight

Damen Naval has treated its employees who have a work anniversary this year to an outing and dinner. Every year, employees who have 25, 40 or 50 years of service are put in the spotlight in the Schelde Schakels, and this year they were also treated to a special day. They were invited for a tour of the Zeeuwse Archief (the Zeeland Archives) and a dinner at hotel-restaurant De Timmerfabriek.

“It is unusual that people work for so long for one company and yet Damen Naval has an impressive list of jubilees every year. We are honoured that our company inspires this kind of loyalty in people, and we want to continue to honour that,” explained Roland Briene.

At the archives, the honourees and their supervisors were given a tour of the old building by Hanny Kool, a presentation on how to access the documents in the archives by Lindy Huibregtse, and finally a presentation about the Royal Schelde Shipyard archives. In the evening, they were joined for dinner by several MT members, and in his speech, Roland looked back at the years the honourees started working for the company.

Roland: “We can look back on an enjoyable afternoon and evening. Once again, I learned a lot about the history of our beautiful company; this is of course the last generation that started working at De Schelde before the year 2000. Above all, there were lots of stories about their time at De Schelde and Damen Naval.”
