Damen Naval recently signed a sponsorship contract for Sail Den Helder 2023 at the defence trade fair NEDS. Together with Thales Netherlands and RH Marine, the company will support Sail Den Helder, which takes place at the same time as the Royal Navy’s Marine Days, which are also important for Damen Naval. Both events will be held from 29 June to 2 July. “Damen Naval is the naval shipbuilder of the Netherlands and the connection to a major event like Sail Den Helder and the Marine Days is therefore obvious,” explains Naval Sales Support Director Richard Keulen.

During the two events, many Damen-built ships will be on display; from large, square-rigged sailing vessels of (inter)national customers to naval vessels of the Royal Netherlands Navy and perhaps foreign navies as well. Richard: “Our connection with the maritime world and the navies, which operate our ships, is long and intense. We think it is important to continue to pay attention to this.”

During Sail Den Helder and the Marine Days, Damen Naval will again be expected to be present with its own stand and, together with the other sponsors, organise various events for business contacts. “The events combined generate huge visitor numbers. This is win-win for us, because besides our (sailing) vessels, it means our naval vessels are in the spotlight with a large audience,” Richard says. “Events like this are hard work, but also rewarding to do. We show that we are a wonderful company with wonderful and relevant products.”
